Started Puppies —

A started puppy is simply a puppy who has had extra time to learn, grow, socialize, and build confidence alongside their mama, siblings, and human family here before joining their forever home.

At Kennel in the Pines, our puppies continue learning every day! Depending on age, our started puppies will already be:

• Potty trained & Using a doggy door
• Learning an “implied sit” (sitting politely instead of jumping)
• Responding to their name
• Practicing basic commands like “sit”
• Going on walks and exploring new places
• Riding in vehicles
• Going up and down stairs
• Socialized alongside children, cats, and other dogs
• Getting comfortable with grooming and handling

Why Families Love Started Puppies

With a started puppy, many of the early building blocks are already in place. They often transition into family life more easily because they’ve had additional opportunities to learn routines, build confidence, and experience the world around them.

Another advantage is that their personalities are beginning to shine. Whether a puppy is adventurous, cuddly, easygoing, or eager to learn, families get a much clearer picture of who they are becoming & bringing in to the family.

At 11 weeks old, our Bernedoodle puppies at Kennel in the Pines are thriving and ready for their forever families! These well-socialized puppies are already doing an excellent job with potty training, confidently using a doggy door, and learning important routines that make the transition to a new home much easier. They love going on walks, enjoy meeting new people, and have mastered the command “sit.” Raised in our home with daily handling, children, other dogs, and plenty of real-life experiences, these puppies are developing into confident, affectionate companions. Today Nugget tagged along for a trip to Tractor Supply, a pup cup run, and some time with his little buddy Luca and cousin dog, Hilly. Every new sight, sound, smell, person, and adventure helps build confidence and teaches puppies that the world is a fun place to explore! 🐾

Behind all the cute puppy videos is a lot of learning and growing. These three confidently use the doggy door, have excellent potty habits when given regular outdoor access, and know “sit” like little pros. They’ve been enjoying walks, practicing recall, exploring new places, and building confidence through everyday adventures. They’ve also spent lots of time around children, cats, adult dogs, visitors, and everyday household activity. Our goal is simple: raise happy, confident puppies that are ready for life’s adventures—and plenty of couch snuggles afterward. 🤎🐾
